主讲人简介

    Dr. Hu is an Assistant Professor at Missouri S&T, in its Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental engineering. Prior to joining S&T, he was the Director of R&D at Metropia Inc., and the General Manager of its Chinese holding subsidiary company Metropia China. He was also an Affiliate Professor at the University of Arizona. His research focuses in the area of smart transportation systems, big data analytics, transportation system modeling and simulation, and travel behavior and insurance telematics.

主讲内容简介

With literally hundreds of millions of Google Maps users nowadays, why isn’t traffic getting better? The answer to this question led to the methodologies Dr. Hu developed to improve system level traffic condition through active traffic and demand management (ATDM) strategies. Those methodologies eventually led to Metropia, a university spinoff with a real-time large-scale mobility management system that includes a smartphone app currently available on Android and iOS platform, as well as a set of algorithms running on the cloud servers. Massive amount of user behavior data has been collected from the smartphone app, and supports a wide range of research topics and externally funded projects that XB has been leading. In this presentation, Dr. Hu will explain how does he enhance urban transportation system efficiency and safety by influencing personal travel behavior decisions.
